Who Are We?

PIM-Check is international prescription-screening checklist to detect potentially inappropriate medication. It was developed in the University Hospitals of Geneva, in collaboration with the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris. This project included a multidisciplinaryd international panel of experts in medication management, presented bellow:

1. Research group

This multidisciplinary research group was created in order to supervise the project. It was responsible for selecting conditionsd sub-conditions to be addressed in PIM-Check.

2. Semi-structured interviews

Based on extensive literature review of guidelines regarding pharmacotherapy, semi-structured interviews were conducted with medical specialists from the University Hospitals of Geneva to identify statements that could be of interest in a prescribing screening checklist dedicated to adults in internal medicine.

3. Homogenized selection of statements

Six members of the research group were responsible for selecting statements to be included in the draft version of the checklist for the Delphi study.

4. The Delphi panel of experts

Experts had to rate their agreement with each statement included in the checklist using a 6-point Likert scale (0, no opinion; 1, strongly disagree; 2, disagree; 3, neither agree nor disagree; 4, agree;d 5, strongly agree). Usefulness of each statement for daily practiced for training of students or residents in internal medicine or clinical pharmacy was evaluated as a secondary endpoint.

5. Update to version 1.2

This group performed a systematic screening of the literature for new versions of the guidelines used to design the items in PIM-Check.

This project was conducted and funded entirely by public funds of the Geneva University Hospitals. No private funding was used to develop the tool, which is independent from the pharmaceutical industry.

Le site internet et l’application webmobile PIM-Check®, ci-après nommés PIM-Check, sont destinés aux professionnels de santé. Leur but est de fournir un outil de détection des prescriptions médicamenteuses inappropriées destiné à l’adulte hospitalisé en médecine interne générale, en vue de contribuer à améliorer la qualité des prescriptions et diminuer les erreurs médicamenteuses.

PIM-Check n'a pas de caractère commercial; le budget alloué à son développement et à sa maintenance repose entièrement sur des fonds publics des Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève et de l’Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris. Il n'est financé par aucun organisme privé et son contenu est indépendant de l’industrie pharmaceutique.

Cet outil est le résultat d’un travail collaboratif ayant impliqué des médecins internists, des médecins spécialistes, des pharmacologists cliniques et des pharmacists cliniciens. Les items de cet outil ont été validés selon une méthode Delphi à 2 tours, par 40 médecins internists et pharmacists cliniciens, de centres hospitaliers universitaires et généraux de la francophonie (Switzerland, France, Belgium, Québec). Les informations contenues sur ce site sont disponibles pour des visiteurs hors de Switzerland, afin de favoriser les échanges avec les autres professionnels de santé, en particulier de Belgium, de France et du Québec et ce afin de promouvoir les activités d’optimisation de la qualité des prescriptions auprès de l’ensemble des professionnels de santé, des autorités et du grand public.

Les concepteurs de l’application assurent la validité du contenu des informations disponibles sur PIM-Check.

Les affirmations contenues dans PIM-Check concernant le bénéfice de traitements spécifiques ou de pratiques sont soutenues par des résultats d’études scientifiques et/ou d’articles publiés, mis à disposition sous la forme de lien URL.

Le contenu de PIM-Check ne se substitue pas à la responsabilité de prescription du médecin et d'analyse du pharmacist et est destiné à améliorer et non à remplacer, la relation directe entre les patients, visiteurs de ce site et les professionnels de santé.
